Steps To Install HP Deskjet 2130 Printer

To set up your printer for the first time, remove all package materials, connect the power cord, install the ink cartridges, and then load paper in the main input tray.

Step 1: Unpack the printer from the box

Remove the printer from the box, and then remove all tape, stickers, and packing materials from the printer.

The contents might vary by country/region. See the printer package for a list of items shipped in the box.

1.      Remove the printer from the box.

2.      Remove all tape and packing materials from the outside of the printer.

3.      Lower the output tray, reach inside the printer, and then grasp the handle and lower the ink cartridge access door to open it.

4.      Remove all tape and package materials from inside the printer.

5.      Close the ink cartridge access door.

6. Make sure you remove all hardware and materials from the box before discarding or recycling the box and package materials.

Step 2: Connect the power cord and then turn on the printer

  • Plug the printer into a power source to turn on the printer.
  • 1.    Connect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then plug the other end of the power cord into an electrical outlet.
  • 2.      Press the Power button to turn on the printer.

Step 3: Install the ink cartridges

Install the HP ink cartridges that shipped in the box with your printer.

1.      Grasp the handle and lower the ink cartridge access door to open it. The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

2.      Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

3.      Remove one of the ink cartridges from its package. Be careful to only touch the black plastic on the ink cartridge.

4.      Remove the plastic tape.

5.      Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, and then insert the ink cartridge into its proper slot.

·  Insert the black ink cartridge into the right slot.

·  Insert the tri-color ink cartridge into the left slot.

6.      Slide the new ink cartridge at a slight upward angle into the empty slot and then gently push up on the ink cartridge until it snaps into place.

  1. Repeat these steps to install the other ink cartridge.
  2. Close the ink cartridge access door.

Step 4: Load paper into the input tray

Load plain, U.S. letter, or A4 paper in the input tray after you install the ink cartridges.

1.           Raise the input tray.

2.           Remove any paper from the input tray that is different than the type of paper you want to load, and then slide the paper width guide as far as possible to the left.

3.           Load a stack of U.S. letter, A4, or legal-size paper into the input tray with the short edge forward and the print side facing closest to you. Push the stack into the tray until it stops.

4.           Slide the paper width guide to the right until it rests at the edge of the paper.

5.           Lower the output tray and pull out the output tray extender.

Step 5: Align the ink cartridges

Aligning the ink cartridges are necessary to achieve the best print quality.

1.      After loading the paper, the printer automatically prints an alignment page.

  1.  Lift the scanner lid.
  2. Place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass, and then position it according to the engraved guides around the glass.
  3. Close the scanner lid.
  4. Press the Start Copy Black button or the Start Copy Color button on the control panel of the printer.
  5. The printer aligns the ink cartridges.

Step 6: Install the printer software

Your HP printer hardware is now set up and you can install the printing software. Do not attempt to connect the printer to a computer until instructed to do so in the printing software.
